Picturing America
A Celebration of America in Images and Words

Western Iowa Tech Community College Forum
Presented by Russ Gifford

Wednesday, November 5
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Pictures engage us. They open paths into our hearts and propel
us into action long before words can stir our minds.

‘Picturing America’ is an exciting new effort by the National
Endowment for the Humanities and Western Iowa Tech to
enable Americans to travel these shared pathways again.

Join us tonight for an exciting trip through America. We’ll
see a representation of the art, architecture and photography
that we – and America – grew up with.

Bring your memories and join in the discussion at the Large Lecture Hall, where you’ll see high quality reproductions of these works.

Together we’ll follow our emotions to delve into the character, ideals and aspirations of our country!

Featured art works include pieces by Grant Wood, Albert
Bierstadt, Winslow Homer, Thomas Cole, and of course,
Norman Rockwell.

Bring your memories as we trace the powerful themes of hope and freedom that have inspired the world!

This program has been made possible by a generous grant
from Humanities Iowa.
